Sony sued for removing linux from PS3

Recent firmware update removed "Other OS" option from PS3, thus making linux on PS3 no more possible option. If you think that Sony had a right to do such a thing, try to look at it from different perspective: You bought a new SUV from car dealer and one morning you wake up and see the very same car dealer going to your car, opening up your trunk and taking out the spare wheel. You ask him what the hell is he doing and he just says: i'm making this car safer. Looks like theft, isn't it? You paid for a SUV, dealer advertised that you get spare wheel with that, but after few months he decided that you don't need the extra wheel any nore, so he can just take it out from your SUV, even though you PAID for it. Some PS3 owners decided to live with it and stop using linux, but there are few who stood their ground and sued Sony.

Todd Densmore from Cumming, Georgia and Antal Herz from San Francisco, California. These two guys filed the very first lawsuit on the fifth of May. They claimed that Sony made several of their PS3 features "inoperable", even though they paid for those features.

Second lawsuit was filed on 30th of April by five dudes from all across the USA. They are claiming that they "lost money by purchasing a PS3 without receiving the benefit of their bargain because the product is not what it was claimed to be - a game console that would provide both the Other OS feature and gaming functions."

Third lawsuit was filed on 28th of April by California guy named Anthony Ventura. 'Tony described Sony's action as "intentional disablement of the valuable functionalities originally advertised as available with the Sony PlayStation 3 video game console. This disablement is not only a breach of the sales contract between Sony and its customers and a breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, but it is also an unfair and deceptive business practice perpetrated on millions of unsuspecting consumers." making him possible to seek "damages for Plaintiff and each class member, including but not limited to compensatory damages; restitution; injuctive relief; attorneys’ fees; and the cost of this suit." Actual number should be at least 5 million USD. Expensive Operating System, isn't it?:)

All class lawsuits includes anyone who purchased and still owns their PS3 from 17th of November, 2006 to 27th of March, 2010.
